About Heart and Stroke Foundation

Approved quotes:

“We know that heart disease and stroke remain the leading cause of death for women in Canada1 – more than all cancers combined,” says Bobbe Wood, CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. “And this year, we’ve enlisted a few good men to walk our runway, sharing ‘The Heart Truth’ with men across Canada to help protect the lives of women they love.”

“We’re reaching Canadian women with this lifesaving message: it’s time to take charge of your heart health”, says Wood. “Make healthy lifestyle choices, monitor your cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and advocate for the care you need from your doctor. And to Canadian men, we say support the women you love to protect their heart health.”

    Hi Victoria,
Excellent post on your social media release “The Heart Truth”. Your well organized post provided some great health information about Heart disease. The event which was supported by Canadian celebrities along with the models, really helps to making everyone more aware of this disease. This is such a great cause and at the same time showcases the Canadian Designers who create the original red dress designs. Bringing the heart health awareness to women, with a fashion show is a great idea.
Thought you also may be interested in the following article Rock the Runway, which is also a fashion show with a good cause. The event has managed to raise tens of thousands of dollars for recognized local and international charities such as War Child Canada’s 2011 Afghanistan project. The highlight of the annual event is a fashion show featuring some of Canada’s top designers. The event was supported by Canadian fashion designer Brian Bailey. • Hi Liana,
Thanks for your comment. It seems these charity events that give donors a great night out are a real success, compared with merely asking for donations. I’m wondering if you are involved in the Rock the Runway event somehow?

      • Liana

        Hi Victoria,
No I am not involved in the Rock the Runway event, however I am interested in the Fashion Industry, and volunteered at the November 2010 Vancouver Fashion Week. Thought the Fashion events for a great cause was very worthwhile!
